Mouse Guard 2nd Ed. Actual Play Series – Mission of Mercy

James decided that he wanted to run Mouse Guard again, so he invited a few friends. Paul and Steve are part of the normal podcast, while Matt and Andy are newcomers to the 1d4Cast scene.

**Note** – Mouse Guard is a front heavy system in terms of mechanical crunchiness. This games was a learning exercise and it not played 100% correctly according to the book.

The recording, after editing out long pauses, runs short of 2 hours.

Here is the cast:

GM – James Winfield

Kenzie – Stephen Horrocks
Saxon – Paul Carlson
Lieam – Andy Mull
Celanawe – Matt Poole

If you are following the Vampire V20 game, it is on hiatus until after the major convention season. It should start back up in September or October. In the meantime, we are planning to release a couple of other one-shot APs of various systems until then. Look for a Fate Core one-shot coming next.

Hope you enjoy!

Mouse Guard 2nd Ed. Actual Play Series – 1d4Con 2017 Playtest

This was recorded right before 1d4Con 2017. This is the Playtest of the Scenario James ran at the convention. He recruited David and Marian to play and Marian brought Derek along with her.

**Note** – Mouse Guard is a front heavy system in terms of mechanical crunchiness. This games was a learning exercise and it not played 100% correctly according to the book.

The recorded game itself has a running time of about 2 hours and 30 minutes after the long pauses had been removed. Then we discuss things that we noticed or questioned about the game for about 15 minutes afterwards.

Here is the cast:

GM – James Winfield

Kenzie – David Havelka
Saxon – Marian McBrine
Lieam – Derek Guder

Storyteller:

  • James

Players:

  • Marian (Bob Roberts – Ventrue
  • Davie (Morgan Mandrake – Nosferatu)
  • David (Willard Connelly – Tremere)
  • Wes (Tom Hebert – Nosferatu)
  • Christina (Madelene Cross-DuChance – Toreador)

*A note about the quality*: We used G+ Hangouts exclusively this time again. Other than the usual issues with Hangouts, the quality issues stem from the static of Christina/Davie’s mic, some background noise from Marian’s mic, and the occasional low volume of my mic. It is hard to hear what Christina and Davie say sometimes due to the static.

This episode is heavily edited to fix and cut out audible tech issues as well as long periods of silence, background noise, and other random noise picked up by microphones.

The next episode will hopefully be recorded in July.

*A note about the quality*: We used G+ Hangouts exclusively this time. Other than the occassional cut out or drop that usually comes with Hangouts, the only quality issue was Marian’s mic. It is hard to hear what she says some of the time and with her still having a cold, it didn’t help.

This episode is heavily edited to fix and cut out audible tech issues as well as coughing, long periods of silence, and other noise picked up by microphones.

The next episode is due to be recorded on April 8th.

VtM V20 Actual Play Series – Baltimore in Darkness 01

Hello everyone,

New year means new things. I (James) have started a new Actual Play campaign called Baltimore in Darkness which uses the Vampire: the Masquerade 20th Anniversary rules set.

Listening to Happy Jacks RPG Podcast’s Mote of Sin (V20 Actual Play) really inspired me to run one of my own. Thanks Stu!

*A note about the quality*: We started by using Roll20.net, which doesn’t have a mute option and most of our mics’ hardware mute switch didn’t seem to work. At about the 1 hour mark, Roll20 completely crapped out on us and we picked back up in G+ hangouts. Both Marian and I are sick and coughing a lot.

This episode is heavily edited to fix and cut out audible tech issues as well as coughing, but not all could be cut. So be warned, some parts are rough. I feel that the episode was ultimately listenable, so I’m releasing it.

More episodes should come every other week or so. Hopefully in better quality.
