Episode 40 – A Particular Set of Skills

This month we talk about our favorite Skills subsystems within various RPGs. We also discuss our time at and running 1d4Con 2017 as well.

Thank you to Zac C. for writing in!

This episode was recorded on 5/15/2017 using G+ Hangouts and recorded by routing the sound through a mixer and into Audacity. There is a little bit of a quality issue with this episode as there are some weird pops and noises around Monica’s and Henry’s mics that I was unable to completely remove. We used Levelator to level and normalize the audio before editing in Audacity. This show has been minimally edited to remove a few gaps of silence and fix some quality issues here and there.

Don’t forget to check out our 1d4cast Actual Play Episodes in iTunes, they are on a separate feed. Another Vampire episode on its way as well as a Mouse Guard Playtest.

Episode 26 – This is your Fate!

Hello Everyone!

This would have been October’s episode, but we had some major technical issues that prevented us from recording. A busy schedule kept me from attending this make up episode.

Thank you Zac, for another letter. We appreciate that you take the time to write in and are happy to read it in our episode!

We bring on Katie and Henry as official 1d4casters. This allows us more schedule flexibility if one or more people can’t make it to a recording. Also, we are planning to go back to our roots and do more System review shows. Hoping to do a review show every other month or every third month.

This episode focuses on Fate Core & Fate Accelerated. Almost all of us have had some experience with the Fate system. We discuss the rules and mechanics of Fate, the differences between Fate Core and Accelerated, a ton of setting and resource options (although not comprehensive in any way), as well as our impressions of the two systems.

Are you Fate-curious or just want to take your game to the next level? Have a listen to our fair review and discussion. We hope that you enjoy the show.

If you have any comments, feedback, system you want us to talk about, or even a topic you want us to discuss; either leave a comment on this episode’s post, send us an email, or use our Contact Page! We’d love to hear from you and will read your email on the next episode!

Episode 22 – Post-Apocalyptic Bullshit Cyber Elves

*WARNING* This podcast is explicit!

Hello Everyone!

Let me first apologize for the tardiness of this episode. It was recorded for February and was supposed to be out last week. With 1d4Con’s Pre-registration opening last Saturday and all the stuff that needed to be done, I just couldn’t make the time until now.

Now, I present to you our episode about Indie Games. More specifically, the rise and relevance of such games. This is the first episode since September that we’ve have the full cast on. I was able to make it back, despite having my Wisdom teeth pulled recently. There is some discussion about 1d4Con and other conventions and we read two emails. Once we make it to the topic, we start out with a little history lesson, get into how the movement took off and what was affected by it, and then we talk about our changing personal preferences in accordance with the gaming hobby.

Hope you enjoy!
