This is the first episode of 2018! In this first month of 2018’s episode, we talk about all manner of ways that one can play Tabletop RPGs on the internet. We discuss various platforms and talk about our experiences with all of them. Is is very apropos as James has currently picked up the V20 Actual Play series again with other new and exciting APs to follow in 2018.

Episode 21 – More Game For Your Buck!

Hello Everyone! Happy New Year, despite the fact that January is now at it’s end! I had full intention of being on this episode, but I got hit by a nasty stomach virus the day we were to record. Rather than delay, I asked the others to continue without me.

The topic of this episode is Games That Won’t Break Your Wallet. Monica suggested we talk about this after she did a similar panel at a Convention. If we would have had a MAGFest Panel, this would have been the topic. Anyway, the focus is mainly on Free or Low Cost games that don’t require a ton of monetary buy-in. Most of our links are to to PDFs, but we do throw in occasional links to print copies for some games.

The list below is pretty comprehensive, but is in no way complete. So, if you have games you want to tell us about that we missed in this list, a correction about something in the episode, or even a question, let us know. Hello everyone!

My baby boy, Elijah, is doing great! I hope to get back to this podcasting thing in January :).

Anyway, the 1d4cast crew, along with special guest Henry, got together again to bring you a new episode. We have more feedback email to read from Bob H. of Australia about our Halloween episode and Actual Plays. If you have anything that you want to tell us, let your voice be heard. We’ll read it on the next episode.

The topic for discussion boils down to What Games You Can’t Live Without which is a take on the “desert island” scenario. They talk about what game would you choose to keep if you had to lose everything else, which game to be able to replay differently, to be able to play a whole lot more of, be able to experience again with a blank slate, and many other burning questions.

A Closer Look At… Skill Use

This is not a comprehensive list of systems, but it is a very diverse one, covering both traditional games and indie games. It’s always interesting to see not only how the use of skills evolve through editions but between games as well.
